Rarely seen postcard view from 1903 looking upstream from the Old Wye Bridge.On the left is "Jordan's Boathouse" with it's array of boats.On the right is Greyfriers House in all it's glory and further upstream can be seen "Hunderton Railway Bridge opened in 1853.

Is it just me or did Hereford look a thousand times better before 1960, looking at how the city looks now in all its bland glory & with a council who hasn't a clue what to do with its cash, Castle green once home to the second largest castle in England just lawns now, No carnivals, Fetes, No boating on the river..It does gets quite depressing.
I used to live with my grandparents in the Anglers Inn when I was a child--1942-45
These pics are wonderful, re-awaking all those memories, please keep them coming....We were taken on the river regularly by my father, in the summer months; he would always row between the Old Bridge and Belmont woods, and back again. Isn't it a shame today's children can't enjoy the Wye in the same way as we did. I know this is an old post, sorry....I left Hereford in 1962 when I got married,but still have family there.
